Lincoln, California – A Great City in Northern California

Lincoln was a small bedroom community outside of Sacramento passed Roseville until the mid-1990’s where there was a period of tremendous growth. In the 2010 Census the city recorded a population of just under 43,000 – a growth rate of 282.1% over the numbers from 2000. Which made Lincoln the fastest growing city of over 10,000 people in the US!

    Like to many towns and cities in the Sacramento metro area, Lincoln came from humble beginnings when it was laid out in 1859 by Theodore Judah near to the at the time proposed California Central Railroad. It was named after Charles Lincoln Wilson one of the directors of the Railroad. During the construction of the railroad in the area for a while around 1861 Lincoln was the terminus for the railroad and experienced a small boom before the line was extended beyond to Wheatland.

    Lincoln’s local geolAdd Mediaogy means that it is rich in clay deposits and therefore the famous pottery company Gladding, McBean & Co was established in the late 19th Century – bringing prosperity to the region as well as a thriving pottery scene. Along with clay, gold and coal was mined in the area leading to early growth in the area. Lincoln was also the first town in the greater Sacramento area to open a casino in 2004. The Thunder Valley Casino Resort and was named in 2006 an “All-America City” by the National Civic League – the only California city to be named an All-America City that year. Definitely a great award to receive.

    Lincoln has a bustling downtown with plenty of shops, restaurants and historic buildings. In terms of Real Estate there is so much on offer to homebuyers in Lincoln. According to Sperling’s Best Places to live the average cost of a home in the area is $358,000 with home appreciation at 25% last year. They also list Lincoln as number 7th in healthiest cities too.
